ASME STP-PT-095-2022

This report is an extension of prior work published by ASME ST-LLC in the STP-PT-079 publication titled “Local Heating of Piping: Thermal Analysis”. Additional analysis was conducted to include larger pipe sizes and calibration to more recent experimental data obtained using multiple heat treatment band configurations. The goal was to provide guidelines for the sizing of heated bands by placing controlling thermocouples axially along the pipe, as well as circumferentially. Additionally, the computational fluid dynamic model was calibrated and validated against two sets of experimental data on large diameter pipe.
