This standard defines the basic terms of the printing technology. It shall harmonize the terminology within determined limits in order to guarantee an unequivocal use of technical terms for manufacture, education and science. It explains the basic terms them according to the state of the technology and terminological principles. Deficits in linguistic usage will be prevented as much as possible. Further word associations, not listed in this standard, should be derived from the basic terms.
