Glass in Building - Design and construction rules - Part 3:Point fixed glazing
Summary
The series of standards DIN 18008 specify rules for design and construction for products of glass. Part 3 of the standard deals with the use of point-fixed glazing. Point fixings are available as clamping discs inserted into holes drilled in the glass and clamp fittings fixed at the edges or corners of the glazing without the need to drill holes. This part of the standard only applies to glazing designs in which the panes are supported solely by mechanical holders with a positive fit. This part of the standard only applies to glass infill panels in accordance with 3.1.1 of DIN 18008-1:2010-12. It deals with the use of clamping discs that are inserted into cylindrical (not conical) drilled holes and grip the entire thickness of the glass. Additional requirements for anti-drop glazing and for accessible glazing (including glazing accessible for maintenance work) are given in Parts 4 to 6 of this standard. The provisions of DIN 18008-2 apply as appropriate with regard to the distinction between horizontal and vertical glazing.
