This technical specification (TS) provides methods, which can be used to decide upon the monolithic status of a waste, in view of landfilling. The listed procedures allow to verify the monolithic status of a waste sample of regular shape, in view of testing a waste sample as monolithic waste for landfilling acceptance. This standard provides different methods selected from practical existing tools on monolithic status (i.e. national standards or para-normative methods) which can be used alone or in combination.This TS is not applicable to assess the long term durability of a waste sample in a specified scenario. Note: Some of the described methods may be used to assess the long-term durability of waste under landfill conditions awaiting fieldstudy results.
