Summary
This method can be used as a means of providing a quality control check on the presence and levels of certain specified contaminants. Such contaminants are referred to as marker compounds and originate from the PET material itself or from the food products that the has contacted during its 'first use'. The method can also be used for qualitative screening of PET samples to identify volatile contaminant species.
