Summary

This European Standard specifies a high performance liquid chromatographic method with evaporative light scattering detection (HPLC-ELSD) for the simultaneous determination of nine intense sweeteners, i.e. acesulfame-K, alitame, aspartame, cyclamic acid, dulcin, neotame, neohesperidine dihydrochalcone, saccharin and sucralose in foodstuffs. The method has been fully validated through collaborative trial, according to the IUPAC Harmonised Protocol, on analyte-matrix combinations of all nine sweeteners in beverages and canned or bottled fruits.
