Summary

This test procedure specifies, in accordance with the provisions of IEC 60216-1, a method for evaluating the temperature index of enamelled and of tape wrapped round and rectangular wire. It does not include fibre-insulated wire or wire covered withz tapes containing inorganic fibres.

Notes

DIN EN 60172 (1995-11) and DIN EN 60172/A1 (1998-05) remain valid alongside this standard until 2013-02-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 60172 (2016-02), exists until 2018-06-16.
