This part of IEC 60851 specifies the gereral notes on methods of test for winding wires. It also gives the definitions for terms used in IEC 60851. A survey of the contents of part 2 to part 6 of IEC 60851 is given in annex A.

DIN EN 60851-1 (2004-10) remains valid alongside this standard until 2012-12-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN IEC 60851-1 (2023-08), exists until 2024-07-21.
