Summary
This standard specifies the performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for marine speed and distance measuring equipment. According to the changes in IMO Resolution MSC.96(72) the amendments in comparison with the preceding edition reduce the minimum depth of water under the keel for correct operation of the SDME to 2 m for a ground based equipment, reduce the accuracy required of analogue displays and add a requirement for a serial interface.
Notes
DIN EN 61023 (2000-07) remains valid alongside this standard until 2010-10-01.
