Summary

This new edition replaces IEC 61996:2000 and constitutes a technical revision. In particular it includes a new requirement for an interface to be used for downloading the stored data to an external computer. This is in support of an IMO requirement introduced in 2005 which becomes mandatory for ship fittings after June 2008. A similar revision has been prepared to IEC 61996-2 for the S-VDR.

Notes

DIN EN 61996 (2001-06) remains valid alongside this standard until 2011-06-01.*A transition period, as set out in DIN EN 61996-1 (2014-03), exists until 2016-06-27.
