Summary

The standard, EN 792, applies to non-electric hand-held power tools intended to be used in operation by one person using one or both hands, where the weight of the power tool is supported by the operator or by a harness or suspended e. g. by a balancer. The power tools driven by rotary or linear motors powered by compressed air, hydraulic fluid or gaseous or liquid fuel or stored energy (e. g. by a string). Electrically driven tools are not intended. The standard lists the significant hazards caused by hand-held power tools.

Notes

DIN EN 792-9 (2001-08) remains valid alongside this standard until 2009-12-28.
