DIN ISO 25862:2013-01

This standard applies to liquid-filled marine magnetic compasses and binnacles for navigation and steering purposes with or without gimbals and to azimuth reading devices. It applies to see-going vessels and lifeboats/rescue boats equipped with such magnetic compasses. The standard gives requirements regarding construction and performance. Additionally the standard contains requirements on the product documentation, e. g. type-test and individual test certificate for compasses. Furthermore, requirements on the positioning of the magnetic compasses in ships are stated and requirements on testing and certification of marine compasses with or without transmitting system and azimuth reading devices. This first edition of ISO 25862:2009-05 cancels and replaces ISO 449:1997, ISO 613:2000, ISO 694:2000, ISO 2269:1992 und ISO 10316:1990.
