IEEE Draft Guide for Testing the Semi-Conductive Water Blocking Tape in Cross-Linked Polyethylene Insulated Alternating-Current Power Cables

Summary

New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft.
This guide provides testing methods of equipment for the performance of semi-conductive water-blocking tape used in alternating current power cables.

This guide defines and describes test methods and associated setups for semi-conductive water blocking tape for Cross-Linked Polyethylene (XLPE) insulated Alternating-Current (AC) power cable of 110 kV to 500 kV.
The purpose of this guide is to provide a basic testing method for cable manufacturers and users to measure and evaluate the properties of semi-conductive water blocking tape, to help prevent the ablation failure of semi-conductive water blocking tape and help ensure the safe and stable operation of AC cable systems. This guide provides technical support for semi-conductive water blocking tape for XLPE insulated AC power cable of 110 kV to 500 kV and requirements for testing equipment.
