IEEE Draft Standard Adoption of Moving Picture, Audio and Data Coding by Artificial Intelligence (MPAI) Technical Specification --Human and Machine Communication (HMC) Version 2.0
Summary
New IEEE Standard - Active - Draft.
Human and Machine Communication (MPAI-HMC) specifies:
Communicating Entities in Context Use Case implemented in the AI Framework as specified by IEEE Std 3301 using AI Modules and Data Formats from IEEE Std 3300, IEEE Std 3302, IEEE Std 3306, and IEEE Std 3308 to provide a main recognized application in the Human and Machine Communication domain.
The Communicating Entities in Context of this Technical Specification enables Entities (i.e., humans or machines) to communicate with other Entities, possibly in different Contexts. Depending on its real or virtual nature, an Entity communicates with another Entity by:
1. Using the human’s body, speech, context, and the audio-visual scene the human is immersed in.
2. Rendering the Virtual Entity as a speaking humanoid in an audio-visual scene, or
3. Communicating by emitting Communication Items, a Portable Avatar specified by IEEE Std 3306.
A Machine in MPAI-HMC can:
1. Understand the semantics of the Communication Item at different layers of depth depending on the technologies used by an Implementation.
2. Produce a multimodal response expected to be congruent with the received information.
3. Render the response as a speaking Virtual Human in an Audio-Visual Scene.
4. Convert the Data produced by an Entity to Data whose semantics is compatible with the Context of another Entity.
