This document applies to the following: — Top Sides structures for fixed structures at sea; — individual structural units placed on hull structures for floating structures and mobile units at sea; — Top Sides structures of offshore structures in Arctic regions, with the exception of winterization (see ISO 19906). If any part of the Top Sides structures is an integral part of the main structure of the overall structural system which resists the overall actions of the platform, the requirements of this document are supplemented by the applicable requirements of ISO 19902, ISO 19903, ISO 19904- 1, ISO 19905-1, ISO 19905-3 and ISO 19906. For parts of floating offshore structures and mobile offshore units chosen to be governed by the rules of a recognized classification society, the corresponding class rules supersede the associated requirements of this document. This document also covers the prevention, control and assessment of fires, explosions and other accidental events. The fire and explosion provisions of this document may, however, be applied to those parts of the hulls of floating structures and mobile units at sea which contain hydrocarbon processing, piping or storage facilities. NOTE Requirements for structural integrity management are presented in ISO 19901-9. This document applies to structural elements, including the following: — primary and secondary structures of bridges, module support frames and modules; — flare structures; — crane bases and other crane support devices; — helicopter landing platforms (helidecks); — permanent walkways between separate offshore structures; — masts, towers and spiers of offshore structures. This document provides requirements for the selection and use of a national construction standard with a matching factor for determining the strength of non-circular prismatic elements rolled and welded and their connections.
