This test method provides a procedure to evaluate comparatively the biodegradability of lubricants in water, especially those for two-stroke cycle outboard engines, against the biodegradability of standard calibration materials.

This method may also be used for exhaust condensate materials; increased amounts of test material may be necessary to ensure that approximately 50 µg/g hydrocarbons are present.
