Summary
Molybdenum belongs to the essential heavy metals. Toxic effects of molybdenum in cattle were described for the first time in 1938. The maximum immission values (MI values) for molybdenum listed in this standard are designed to protect farm animals and the food derived from them. The limits are based on the results of feeding experiments with farm animals raised for use. In these experiments the animals received fodder to which sodium or ammonium molybdate was added or whose content of sodium and ammonium molybdate was naturally high or was increased by ambient air pollution.
