Standard specifies a chromatographic method for the determination of Levoglucosan in aqueous extracts of filter samples, which have been, e.g., collected according to DIN EN 12341. The method is applicable in the range from approx. 10 ng/m3 to approx. 3000 ng/m3 with a sampling duration of 24 hours. The method is also suitable for the measurement of galactosan and mannosan. Furthermore, the following carbohydrates can be determined, in some cases with certain restrictions: inositol, threitol/erythritol, arabitol, mannose, glucose, galactose and fructose.
