Fibre ropes - Description - selection - dimensioning

Summary

Fibre ropes are linear flexible products that mainly transmit tensile forces. Characteristic of ropes is a construction of at least three components. Among others, rope components can be yarns, threads, or monofilaments. Typically, fibre ropes are produced by laying, twisting, braiding, or a combination of these basic techniques. The standard helps to deepen the understanding of the not always easy to understand element "fibre rope". The standard deals with technical rope terms and definitions, designs, and materials and the behaviour of ropes during everyday use. It also described various forms of damage and how to recognise them.
