Automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS) - Safety of AGVS
Summary
Automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS) are internal, indoor and/or outdoor floor-bound conveyor systems with automatically controlled vehicles whose primary task is the transport of materials. In a broader sense, AGVs also include systems that are used for service tasks, e.g. handling, monitoring, cleaning, mobile information, and guidance. This standard describes the safety requirements to be met by manufacturers of AGVs in the areas of "conception", "design", "installation", and "commissioning". Furthermore, it gives the operators of AGV systems an overview of the safety-related requirements to be considered by manufacturers. Thus, the standard supports manufacturers and operators when considering protective measures.
