Automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS) - Interfaces to infrastructure and peripherals

Summary

In the planning and design of all components of an automated guided vehicle system (AGVS) the existing conditions and constructional aspects on-site need to be considered. To ensure a proper, secure and failure-free operation of the AGVS, the interfaces of the AGVS to the infrastructure and the peripheral equipment are particularly to plan and implement. This standard details and supplements the requirements of VDI 2510 Part 1 for peripheral equipment and building elements for AGVSs, such as interfaces of the AGVS, for example, to doors and gates, fire doors and elevators. The standard describes these subjects in detail and defines manufacturer-independent requirements of AGVSs to their operational environment. It is a guideline for configuring the interfaces between the building elements and the AGVS, and is aimed for plant engineers, suppliers of building elements and facility operators. Primarily the standard describes functional interfaces and communication interfaces, in special cases, also mechanical interfaces.
