VDI 2578:2016-06

This standard is applicable to plants for melting glass and to the storage, preparation and mixing of raw materials and cullet and the transport of the batch to the melting furnace. Furthermore, the annealing lehrs (annealing furnaces) required for stress relaxation of the glasses, and the hot-end coating plants of the container glassware industry are covered. Difference is made between container glass,flat glass, continuous filaments, tableware, special glass, glass- and rockwool, glas frits and water glass. The standard does not cover plants for shaping hot glass outside the melting furnace and further processing of the glass and the glass items. In addition, plants for the production of in cupola melted mineral wool (rockwool) are not covered.
