This standard describes the state of the art of the process and emissions control techniques from web offset printing plants using the heatset procedure on web-type paper. It contains the detailed description of each step in the printing process, the corresponding plant component and the materials used including their interaction and their influence on the formation and avoidance of emissions. As a part of this description, the topics of air pollution and energy efficiency are examined in detail. With regard to other environmental impacts, reference is made to established legal regulations and recognised conventions. This standard does not refer to any other printing processes, in particular it does not apply to web offset printing using the heatless drying procedure (coldset offset printing) or dry offset printing.
