Summary
This guideline describes the state of the art for animal by-products processing facilities (in the following referred to as ABP processing facilities) in terms of Regulation (EC) no. 1774/2002 which lays down the hygiene rules for certain animal by-products not intended for human consumption (in the following referred to as EU Animal By-products Regulation) with the objective of preventing health risks to humans and animals. The scope of this guideline also covers the construction and operation of - facilities for the (separate) processing of blood, bones, feathers, bristles and fish, - on-site by-products processing plants of slaughtering facilities and - intermediate plants (formerly collection facilities).
