The guideline deals with the use of simulation as an aid to the planning of automated guided vehicle systems (AGVS). It gives an overview of the relevant types of simulation, the respectively necessary input data and the results to be achieved. The guideline does not provide detailed descriptions of various simulation tools, or the various possible simulation models.Aspects and procedures that go beyond the AGVS, as they are necessary for the optimization of the whole logistic process, are excluded. These topics are covered in detail the series of guidelines VDI 3633.
