The standard provides a comprehensive overview of defects and process events that can occur during powder bed fusion of metal with laser beam, PBF-LB/M (also called laser beam melting of metallic parts). The defects and events are described, illustrated by examples and categorized. If known, the causes of these defects are named to possibly reduce them. The standard is addressed to operators and users of AM machines for PBF-LB/M as well as to users of components made correspondingly.
