This standard describes a uniform procedure to ensure the safe operation of additive manufacturing systems that process polymers using laser sintering. The relevance and applicability of existing regulations in neighbouring fields of technology will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The standard is primarily aimed at operators of laser sintering systems or at persons or companies planning to purchase and operate a laser sintering system. The standard also addresses organisations that advise operators of these systems with regard to safety precautions, suppliers of systems and equipment for safe operation, and logistics service providers for handling hazardous goods.
