Measurement of particles - Methods for generating test aerosols - Transport and conditioning
Summary
Test aerosols are used for a wide range of applications in filter testing, clean room technology, calibration, adjustment or testing of particle counting measuring devices, in biological and medical research and other areas where fine or ultra-fine particles are of interest. In many cases, the aerosols produced by the aerosol generator cannot be used directly, but need to be transported to the application and adapted to the respective purpose. This standard describes sampling, transport and the corresponding conditioning processes (e.g. dilution, drying, cleaning), points out advantages and limitations and deals with the particle losses associated with these processes. The procedures described in this standard can also be used for other aerosols, e.g. exhaust gases from combustion engines or atmospheric aerosols.
