The operation of cranes requires portable power supply and data transmission systems. They enable a secure communication between the crane-integrated electrical/electronic controls and sensors themselves, between cranes working on the same runway, or to stationary control rooms and central control systems. This standard compiles the major systems for energy and data transmission for cranes according to technical criteria, and classifies and evaluates them for specific applications on crane systems. Not discussed are power supply and data transmission systems of hydraulic or pneumatic systems as well as the special requirements of storage and retrieval equipment, stage equipment, clean room conditions, off-shore use and passenger transportation systems.
