Environmental meteorology - Atmospheric dispersion models - Gaussian plume model for the determination of ambient air characteristics.
Summary
The standard describes a numerical method to calculate the stationary concentration and mass fluxes of ambient air resulting from anthropogen emitted substances in the vicinity of simple or multiple sources and is valid for a range up to 100 km. This method can be used for gases and aerosols, describing also the process of sedimentation. As a first approximation the numerical method includes dry and wet deposition as well as chemical transformation. The standard can be used to analyse ambient air relating to causing sources as well as to systems of multiple sources (air quality management). Using the ambient air mass fluxes of dry and wet deposition it is possible to estimate the loading of the soil as it is e.g. required for environmental impact assessment. The standard addresses experts or licencing authorities.
