Environmental meteorology - Photolysis frequencies for calculating pollutant concentrations in the troposphere

Summary

Conversion of tracer gases in the atmosphere is determined by chemical radical reactions which are initiated by photolysis processes. To assess and predict the air quality in detail the knowledge of photolysis frequencies is necessary. The standard provides photolysis frequencies for tropospheric conditions. To this spectral actinic photon flow densities for numerous meteorologcal situations are calculated so that typical conditions for middle europe are coped for a mean value of 200 m above NHN. The results of these calculations are given for the heights between 0 m and 1000 m above ground.
