Environmental meteorology - Reaction mechanism for the determination of the nitrogen dioxide concentration
Summary
By combustion processes of fossil fuels, as in in motor vehicles or large-scale firing plants, the air hygienic relevant gases carbon monoxide (NO) and carbon dioxide (NO2) also arise. NO and NO2 are subjects to chemical reactions in the atmosphere, which are dependent on the meteorological situation and the formation of tracer gases in the ambient air. In this standard an extended reaction system is described, which adequately records the chemistry of carbon oxides and can be used within the framework of a chemistry or transport model to gain a quantitative prognosis of the ambient air. Thereby this system can be applied to assess and to minimize the load of carbon dioxide in order to fulfill statutory rules.
