This guideline gives an overview over principles, techniques, designs and applications of Optical Aerosol Spectrometers, highly sophisticated instruments for the measurement of particle number concentrations and particle size distributions in atmospheric air. The measuring range covers particle diameters from approx. 0.07 µm to approx. 25 µm and particle number concentrations from about 10(power of -3) cm(power of -3) to about 10(power of 5) cm(power of -3).
