Measurement of particles in ambient air - Determination of the particle number concentration and particle size distribution of aerosols - Time-of-flight spectrometer.
Summary
Time-of-flight spectrometers are used for filter testing, for the specification of inhalators, in inhalation toxicology and, in combination with suitable dispersers, in powder measurement technology, etc. This standard describes the use of the time-of-flight spectrometer for the determination of the particle number concentration and the number size distribution in ambient air. This type of instrument is able to measure continuously the absolute number concentration and the number size distribution of aerosol particles. Basis is the direct measurement of the aerodynamic diameter of airborne particles in real-time. The measurement range covers the aerodynamic diameter of approx. 0,5 µm to approx. 15 µm and the number concentration of less than 1/cm3 to approx. 10000/cm3.
