Emission control - Landfill gas - Use and treatment of landfill gas

Summary

Landfill gas is produced by anaerobic biological processes in the landfill body. It is a mixture consisting half of methane and carbon dioxide, and a variety of trace gases. Leaking landfill gas can endanger or influence human beings, fauna and flora as well as buildings and technical facilities in the environment of a landfill. Furthermore, landfill gas is a major emission source of greenhouse gases. Therefore, landfill gas is to be collected and be utilised or treated. The standard describes the state of the art in the utilisation and treatment of landfill gas.
