The guideline is intended for all those responsible for the arrangement of loading units and establishing the necessary securing measures. For the selection and dimensioning of loading units, it is necessary to define the characteristics of a loading unit, the stress at THS operations and necessary or possible functions of securing measures, to be able to compare systems and techniques for the securing of load units. The guideline serves as basis for the application of the other parts of the series of guidelines VDI 3968.
