The standard provides aid in the calculation of throughput and cycle times of conveyor systems and creates a basis to describe the processes in conveying systems with clearly defined terms. Moreover, a common computing and communication base for manufacturers and operators of conveyor systems is created. The described method is also practically applicable in companies that do not have larger planning staff. The standard can be used for planning and acceptance of new installations and for the review of existing systems.
