The standard is addressed to practitioners in the waste management industry as well as to agricultural and horticultural companies that carry out composting for the market or for their own use, as well as to planners and licencing authorities who want to draw on the knowledge and experience gained from Cleaner Production (PIUS) measures in the modernisation or planning of plants and production processes. This standard gives preference to Cleaner Production measures for open composting systems, with all guidance on process management also applying to fully or partially enclosed plants.
