Today's production technologies place increasing demands on conveyor technology. In many areas, it is expected to fulfil not only transport tasks, but also additional functions such as handling, workplace ergonomics and occupational safety. In this framework, electrified monorail systems are often a suitable, highly versatile materials handling solution. This guideline provides an overview of the functions, applications and different designs of electrified monorail systems (EMS) in the load range above 500 kg (cf. VDI 3643).
