The energy quality of gas driven sorption heat pumps is described by the annual performance factor. However, no guideline is available for the calculation of the annual performance factor. This guideline provides a simple calculation procedure for the annual performance factor and the annual utilisation ratio of heat pumps for space heating and domestic hot water to manufacturers, craftsmen, planners, operators and even municipal authorities concerning the assessment of support. This guideline is aimed at showing clearly the energy consumption and providing the basic data for evaluation of the environmental relevance and the economy of gas driven sorption heat pumps even before taking a decision about such a plant.
