It is the aim of the design recommendations given in this guideline to show the potential of the precision glass moulding as manufacturing technology for optical elements and facilitate the use of this potential. The recommendations help reducing time effort and cost for coordination in design and manufacturing of precision optics. To allow better use of the design recommendations by the optics designer the rules are assigned to the steps specification, selection of concept, optimisation of design, tolerancingand mechanics/manufacturing of the optics design process.
