The guideline applies to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems in passenger vehicles (car, train, bus, ship, plane) with the exception of military vehicles. Work areas that are intended exclusively for operating personnel who are effectively separated from the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning of the vehicles or have an independent ventilation system are not regulated.
