Machine operation with regard to the trafficability of soils used for agriculture.
Summary
In the contact area, machines and vehicles put loads on the soil as a result of different forces acting on the undercarriage. This leads to the danger of structural damage due to harmful compaction in the topsoil, the topsoil base, and the subsoil. The reduction or avoidance of the anthropogenic impairment of soil functions belongs to the goals of sustainable agriculture. The orientation of agriculture towards the goals of sustainability is in the interest of the farmer and conforms with the demands of politics and society. The standard considers conditions in plant production as well as the state of the art in agricultural engineering. On this basis, soil-protecting measures for the selection and use of machinery are derived, and concrete decision aids with regard to the trafficability of soils used for agriculture are given.
