The standard supports private and public project developers in finding a sustainable request option in time before the statutory public participation within an approval procedure. The application of the standard helps to reduce the risks in the realisation of industrial and infrastructure projects and to avoid legal conflicts. On the one hand, the approach described in the standard offers participants the chance to relieve statutory procedures and their instruments (e.g. hearings) significantly by anticipating the resolution of conflicts. On the other hand, the project developers are also able to find new technical solutions which meet wider acceptance - at a point in time that still offers scope for action and when conflicts have not escalated yet. The standard is primarily aimed at private and public project developers, but is just as relevant for government agencies, civil society groups, associations, engineering companies, consultants, law firms, communication agencies and process designers.
