The standard describes the basics of form measurement, in particular the conditions and boundary conditions for the measuring of roundness and straightness as well as resulting features such as parallelism and rectangularity. The standard applies only to primitives. The Standard describes measuring methods, dimensional and form etalons (standards) in a way that users of form measuring systems can achieve traceable, repeatable and comparable measurement results.
