This standard presents a collection of edge parameters that map the design characteristics of cutting tools (e.g., indexable inserts, milling cutters, drills). The parameters defined in this standard are defined in a profile. The procedure for determining the profile (e.g., a cut orthogonal to the cutting edge, average of several cuts orthogonal to the cutting edge) is not covered by this standard. The scope extends to cutting edges without wear.
