The standard provides a comprehensive terminology work for non-contact temperature measurement technology. The standard was primarily developed for the supplement parts of the series of standards VDI/VDE 3511 Part 4 for radiation thermometry. However, it also takes into account the specific terms used in thermographic cameras (series of standards VDI/VDE 5585). This standard thus provides a consistent terminology system that can be applied across device classes (such as radiation thermometers, thermographic cameras and calibration radiators). The standard is aimed at suppliers and users of non-contact temperature measurement technology.
