The guideline describes the use of reflection zone plates as focusing or collimating optical elements for X-rays. Having explained the physical basics total external reflection zone plates and Bragg-Fresnel zone plates are introduced as the most important representatives. The structure of reflection zone plates, especially the roles of substrate and structure are discussed. The determining parameters of the two types are described.
