The standard describes the calibration of angle encoders in which the rotation angle is measured directly and with reference to a rotation axis. Influencing variables, calibration procedures, measurement uncertainty considerations and the content of calibration certificates are specified. Typical measuring methods used here are angle encodings, incremental methods or methods based on the measurement of proportional measurands. The standard is aimed at users and manufacturers of measuring systems for measurement of angle, calibration laboratories and service providers.
