This standard describes different concepts for continuous performance monitoring of surface inspection systems. The application of reference patterns, the in-feed of simulations, statistical methods and multiple inspections are introduced in detail and are discussed with their pros and cons. The standard is oriented towards the requirements of flat steel production. The results might also be applied to other inspection tasks such as aluminium, paper or foil. This standard is intended for manufacturers and users of surface inspection systems.
